Update on Lightweight Obermayer Tubular Wheelset
I’ve been told that my Lightweight Obermayer tubular wheelset should ship this week, so I should be able to pop them onto my bike by sometime next week, possibly earlier.
I am really excited about the 990-gram wheelset, especially now that we might be in for some sunny and dry spring weather. Of course, I’ll weigh them and report the actual weight as delivered.
One key point: I went with black lettering instead of white. I’ve seen (in person) the black lettering on the Lightweight Standard, and it’s a wonderful aesthetic.

I’ll be mounting the Veloflex Record tubular tire on both front and rear for starters, to see how these wheels fly with racing tires. The rear tire will wear out fast (600 miles or so), but at least once for fun I’m going to enjoy the wheels at their lightest.
