Lightweight Obermayer Tubular Carbon Fiber On the Trek Madone 6.9 SSL
The Lightweight Obermayers complement the white paint on my Trek Madone 6.9 SSL. For a dark bike, the white logos are probably better, but I like the understated look that does not draw too much attention away from the bike and to the wheels.
Today, I confirmed that the Obermayers ride like the Ventoux 240 wheels in terms of fast-flick-feel, but have a stiffer build, so they sprint better. And they do seem faster at 25+ mph (40 kph). Like the Lightweight Standard, they do pick up some wind torque if a blast of wind hits while turning on a curvy descent.
So far, I think they’re the perfect compromise between the Ventoux and the Standard, and superb 2nd wheelset choice for anyone that already has the Ventoux. I love ’em already.
I’ve added some more photos to my Lightweight Obermayer image gallery page.

Gluing the tires
Look at the superb job the guys over at Palo Alto Bicycles did on gluing the tire. This is as clean a job as you find, and I can say from experience that their glue jobs are outstanding— this tire is never going to roll off.
