I registered today for the Everest Challenge 2-Day Stage Race, the most challenging USA Cycling Race race in the USA, September 24/25, 2011. See my eight page discussion of this race.

Easy— with 9 months of intense training, having lost 40 pounds of fat by riding a lot and watching caloric intake. I feel great, and I’m ready for the face— almost.
It’s not just the climbing and the distance, it’s the 60° F temperature variation— when I last did it in 2004, it ranged from 34° F to at least 95° F, but that’s understating the tandoori oven effect of certain climbs up canyons.
The key to finishing the Everest Challenge is proper hydration and smart fueling.
