Everest Challenge — The Experience
The Everest Challenge 2-day stage race was terrific, with great weather, and I took nearly 3 hours off my 2004 time albeit with a somewhat shorter course (but no less climbing).
No flats, no bike problems, just pure “fun”, except for the cramps at the end of Stage 1, due to my dumb mistake of not taking electrolytes.
Just published are five new pages detailing my experience and preparation:
- Finishing times and places;
- Preparing for the Everest Challenge;
- Power output on the various climbs;
- Mistakes;
- Support;
- Rules violations.
Also, I previously added more photos to the various pages detailing the climbs.
Yes I did use a foam roller before the race, and I did weigh myself, and I rode my Trek Madone 6.9 SSL with the Lightweight Obermayer wheelset with Veloflex Record tires, SRM power meter, and Lazer Genesis helmet. I forgot to suck in my stomach for the photo, but I am really lean, seriously, with estimated 7% body fat at the time this photo was taken.
