Minor training Setbacks
This past week everything sort of went downhill: I felt weaker and weaker as the week progressed, dragging my sorry ass home on Friday about as sluggish as I’ve been for months. Irritable on the bike and in general; nothing felt right.
Such things happen... turns out it’s some kind of gastrointestinal thing—nothing overt but just fatigue and bloating. Maybe it will clear up soon and let me resume training.
One of the risks of an aggressively short training schedule is short-term setbacks which on a 9-month schedule don’t matter but that on a 6-week schedule are much more troublesome. I don’t like the feeling of being rushed to get fit and more lean; it tends to lead to unwise decisions (like riding when I can tell I’m not strong). Anyway I took a day off (rare) and with a little luck I’ll be able to do one or two really hard days prior to the Everest Challenge.
