Whether it’s woke ChatGPT or an amusing Grok on X, chat-style AI is a farce and might be that way forever: it’s always woke or a liar or just makes stuff up. And to get anything else out of it, you have to be a superprompt expert... how is that AI? And even then you don’t know what it hallucinated-up or what woke BS it included.
You can’t trust anything that AI emits. Classic GIGO with no reasoning ability at all. None.
Try having AI do a real task that requires judgment and the perspective of someone grounded in reality and life. Or a real opinion, let alone a nuanced one. Good luck with that.
Heck, just try having AI give you accurate tax-law information—risky! A “the dog ate my homework” thing that the IRS won’t find amusing.
Funny, when I was studying computer science back in the 1980's, even my naive student brain recognized the obvious cluelessness of “experts” saying we’d have true AI within 10 years, a mantra repeated every 10 years since then. Here we are, and AI is now an advanced parrot spewing the same garbage and biases it was trained on. Admittedly that’s what most people do, so maybe I am wrong.
Of course, specialized AI has great promise. But is that AI, or just very advanced pattern recognition? Well, OK, maybe that’s most of what humans do. OTOH, I doubt that any AI could fool me or most people.
Seems like an ongoing farce as to the AI part.
