Pearl Izumi Select Softshell Shoe Cover
When riding in sub-40° F temperatures approaching or below freezing, my toes can get very cold even with thick wool socks. This is largely because the wind cuts into the foot through vents in the shoe.
By blocking the wind and adding some insulation, the feet can be keep much more comfortable.
Enter the Pearl Izumi Select Softshell Shoe covers @AMAZON. With a velcro closure and a generous opening on the bottom, they keep the wind out and provide very good water resistance too. My cold-weather comfort with my feet is now greatly improved. Add in thermal tights and a wool cap, and things feel great.
Even better, they fit both my road cycling and mountain biking shoes, so that I have one piece of gear that covers either type of footwear— handy for me, since I do both, and I often take both my road and mountain bike even when traveling.
