Compact Double 50 X 34 Chainrings — Friendly to Legs and Knees On Climbs
My 2nd Trek Madone 6.9 SSL road bike has arrived. It looks gorgeous in silver and black, images to follow. I suspect that a little black oil on the frame will not be nearly so problematic in terms of looking dirty as it does on the white frame of my first bike.
For the 2nd bike, I went with the 50 X 34 compact double. I can say already that I strongly prefer the 50 X 34 gearing, because it allows a higher cadence on climbs that is much friendlier to the legs and knees when it gets steep.
