Mercedes Sprinter: Toilet
Photographer and cyclist and Mac expert and software engineer Lloyd Chambers is available for consulting on general Sprinter considerations at his usual consulting rates via phone, or in person in the Palo Alto, CA area. Save yourself hours and mistakes by discussing issues up-front. More about Lloyd....
Where I travel, the outdoors is just fine for getting things eliminated. I’m no fan of sewage in tow, but conditions or location may warrant disposal or carriage of human waste within the van or RV, as most RVs have. This of course takes a LOT of space and weight—the toilet itself, the water tank to deal with it, the outlets to get rid of it at a waste station, etc. It particularly makes sense to build in a toilet when there is also a shower. But all those things quickly complicate and expense-up a Sprinter van, and eliminate a good amount of usable space.
While a hollowed-out pumpkin might work for a short while (beware the bottom after a few days), an alternative when a shower is not needed but a toilet is still desired is an incinerating toilet @AMAZON, like the Cinderella Incinerating Toilet.
Cinderella CLASSIC Cinderella Classic is the top-selling incineration toilet in the world. Distributed from the Scandinavian countries for over 15 years, Classic is installed in over 50,000 households around the world. Now available for the first time in North America, Cinderella Classic is a cleaner, more comfortable and lower maintenance alternative to septic and composting options for cabins, outhouses and homes where traditional plumbing is not an option.
I’d rather properly bury my waste in the outdoors, or find a gas station or restaurant, because at about $4695, crapping in the woods brings relief to wallet and body.
