Stats This Year
I’m on schedule for the Everest Challenge stage race.
A feedback loop is a real incentive to keep improving, which is one good reason to track calories and exercise.
Stats from Jan 1 - June 18, 2011.
Miles: 4300
Kilojoules: 186,500 (194,000 calories equivalent to 55 pounds of fat)
Vertical feet: 263,148
Body fat: ~ 24% down to 20.6% (Mar 31) down to 12.6% (June 13)
Muscle: + ~10 pounds
Weight: 202 => 177
Hills that took an effort now feel like a breeze.
My goal by late June is 170 pounds body weight (6 pounds to go), but this is proving to be a major challenge as body fat drops and appetite becomes increasingly demanding— the body has a natural desire not to die by using all its fat. This is true even as I’ve ramped up exercise by 30% daily— appetite ratchets up also, making it an exercise in discipline to have any caloric loss at all. I don’t know how the 5% body fat guys do it.
