Trek Top Fuel 9.9 SSL First Ride
I test rode the Trek Top Fuel 9.9 SSL yesterday for a 3+ hour ride in the hills.
The Top Fuel 9.9 SSL was set up in its stock configuration with Shimano XTR, except for running tubeless Bontrager XR2 Team Issue 26 X 2.10" tires on the Bontrager XXX carbon rims (Trek ships the bike with setup with tubes, not tubeless). I used the Stan’s sealant for my tubeless setup.
The ride was terrific, with precise handling that felt very responsive— I loved it! Weighing in built-up ready to ride with pedals at 22.9 pounds, the weight is about as low as it gets for a reliable bike.
The Top Fuel 9.9 SSL and the SuperFly Elite 100 29er will be used very soon in the Trek to the Summit of White Mountain Peak.
It was a stunningly beautiful sunset at the top of Black Mountain (Santa Clara County, CA), though the iPhone 3GS photos are only slightly better than junk.
