In tiny Big Pine, CA (20 minutes south of Bishop), the best meal in town is to be had at Dick’s Smoke Wagon.
This is where I had my post-race meal after Everest Challenge Stage 2— it sure went down good with the fresh lemonade from real lemons.
It’s honest food at honest prices, and I sure wish such places could be found in my neighborhood! Surrounding the wheeled kitchen are tomato and watermelon and zucchini plants, and I was told to just pick some tomatoes for dinner— no charge. Can’t beat that!
