The Pearl Izumi Select Gel Glove model 8588 is the best glove for road cycling comfort I had found as of mid 2011. It is not all that durable, nor the best looking glove, but it happens to have the pad in just the right place for my hands at the outer part of the hand, and it’s comfortable and well vented for warm weather riding.

I wore out a pair in about 2500 miles— this glove does not last. But at $30, I don’t really care when many other brands are selling for two or even three times that price— it’s OK to buy 2 or 3 pairs to compensate.

It turns out that Pearl Izumi has gone and discontinued model 8588. The replacement model simply does not offer the same comfort, so I scoured the internet to find 4 pairs to last me for the season.
