For the custom build of my Moots MootoX RSL 29er mountain bike, I looked around for the lightest and strongest pair of UST tubeless-ready wheels I could find.

Weight

As actually weighed on lab scale, weight without skewers, but with valves for tubeless.

Rationale

I did not want a wheelset suitable only for races or special-case use; I wanted a wheelset with a good warranty that I could ride hard each and every day.

I found what I wanted with the Easton Cycling EC90 XC 29er carbon fiber wheelset. I had considered a Stan’s notubes wheelset build, but I wanted a sturdy and light wheelset that hardly ever needs truing and that makes no spoke noise.
