Hashimoto’s: An Unusual Drop on Auto-Immune Thyroid Peroxidase (TPO) Ab
re: Thyroid Peroxidase
re: auto immunity
The thyroid peroxidase (TPO) test is a measure of auto-antibodies (antibodies that attack your own tissues) for the thyroid gland. There are other such tests, such as thyroglobulin Ab.
It is highly unusual to see a trend reverse on TPO, let alone see a large drop. Yet as my energy has improved, that is exactly what I’m seeing: a drop from 64 to 38, where a level of 34 is considered the threshold for thyroid disease eg Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis.
So unusual a reversal that my doctor wanted to know what I had done. Usually, things just get worse and/or levels fluctuate a little and the thyroid is steadily swiss-cheesed with damage.
The only change I made was an N=1 test of high-dose Vitamin C including lipospheric Vitamin C, now about 5 months running.
The plummetting TPO number comes after 3 years of misery—I have my life back. Though I do not yet have my formidable early-2020 double century endurance or strength.
Below is the graph showing the thyroid peroxidase (TPO) lab numbers*. One negative is that thyroglobulin Ab has risen from 9 to 14, but what that means I don’t know.
* I only use LabCorp now; the Sutter Health numbers are 25X higher, due to different test methodology.
