TRP CX9 Linear Pull Brakes for Cyclocross Bicycles
When I first road the Moots Psychlo X RSL cyclocross bike, it had the usual racing brakes installed: cantilevers.
Cantilever brakes are for slowing down, and that’s about it. They are flat-out dangerous and un-fun for the steep descents I have in mind for mixed road and trail riding. A non-starter.
But when Neil at Palo Alto Bicycles sent me out for a brief ride on a cyclocross bike with the TRP CX9 Mini Linear Pull Brakes for cyclocross (about $140) @AMAZON, I was persuaded by the braking performance— excellent.
The TRP brakes going onto my Moots Psychlo X RSL cyclocross bike in Feb 2012.
Description from TRP.
Not everyone is a racer nor should every ride be a race. Cross bikes are the embodiment of cycling soul - able to venture over nearly all types of terrain swiftly and smoothly. The CX9’s linear pull design is compatible with most lever types and provides huge amounts of stopping power when the grades get steep or when your bike is loaded with enough gear to get you to the next continent. The super-low profile design also means panniers and racks do not interfere. Rely on CX9’s to stop you when you get there.
